Overview

Coltzan Capital researches, invests, and trades in crypto markets, with a focus on the Hyperliquid ecosystem, from early-stage opportunities and active trading to yield vaults. I worked with the founder to create the brand identity, starting from a name with an unusual origin: Coltzan, the giving warrior king from Neopets.

Challenge

The founder wanted a mark that was minimal but distinctive. Too many brands in the space settle for something overly simple, and Coltzan needed a logo people would recognise and tie to the brand at a glance.

It also had to carry real meaning: the nostalgia of the name, the royal, generous character behind it, and the confidence traders and investors look for in a data-driven, risk-aware approach, without tipping into anything literal or playful. The identity would launch on social media first, then scale to a website at coltzan.capital.

Outcome

Taking the brief as a spark rather than a spec, I drew on ancient Egypt and the Mask of Coltzan to create a symmetrical mark of arcs and rays, part royal mask and part seal, built on a strict geometric grid. It is simple enough to read at any size, but specific enough to own.

I paired the mark with a clean wordmark and a near-black palette, using carved stone textures to give the brand the weight of something ancient and permanent. The system extends across social, stationery, business cards, and the web.

The result is a brand that feels royal, steady, and built to last, giving a young, ambitious fund the presence of a much larger one.
